Pre-K Syllabus

Welcome to Pre-K at Brazos Elementary School! We are honored you have chosen to a part of our school district and this Pre-K program.

The program that we will be using this year, Frogstreet for Pre-K, understands that children learn best and are more likely to achieve conceptual understanding when they are introduced to concepts prior to being introduced to higher-level thinking skills. This program respects the developmental level of young children by offerring concrete, hands-on, child-centerned, engaging activities.

Here are some things you can do to help us have a successful year:

1. Make sure your child gets plenty of rest the night before school.

2. Send a nap mat or blanket to make naptime comfortable. I will send blankets home each Friday to be washed.

3. Send a small snack each day - healthy food, please! Snack time is VERY important to young children!

4. Wear tennis shoes or sneakers every day - we go to P. E. every day!

5. Look at your child's Friday folder every weekend. Go over the work inside the folder WITH your child. Send the folder back every Monday morning!! This is how we will communicate this year. 

6. If you ever need to talk about your child's progress, my conference time is from 9:45-10:30. My email address is: phobson@brazosisd.net. The school phone number is (979)478-6610. 

7. In case your child has an accident, it is essential I have a change of clothes at all times. If I send home clothes that are "soiled", please send a set of clean clothing the next day.

8. We will have special days at school and your child will be encouraged to "dress up." Please encourage them to participate! It is part of "belonging to a school" and helps develop and sense of school spirit! Go Cougars!

9. We are very fortunate to have a Pre-K aid in our classroom.

10. My goals for your child are to enjoy learning, LOVE coming to school each day, and develop the skills needed to be successful in kindergarten!

11.  For birthday celeblrations, parents are able to send store bought cupcakes or goodies to school with their student on their birthday. We will celebrate at the end of the day as a class.
