Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome
We are looking forward to an amazing year! We will strive to be successful in everything we do!!
We will address the TEKS for all subjects through Essence Statements that are vertically aligned to the grade level curriculum.
In addition to the TEKS, each student’s Individual Educational Plan will be addressed.
In English 2, English 3, and English 4 students will:
- be exposed to and demonstrate the ability to use a variety of strategies to interpret and recall information from a literary text
- express themselves in a variety of writing and communication skills
- use texts to draw conclusions
- edit texts for correct word usage and variance in sentence patterns.
In Financial Math, students will:
- learn how to manage money
- learn how to create and stick to a budget
- learn about credit cards, interest, and fees
- learn how to protect yourself as a consumer
In Geometry, students will:
- recognize a point, line, and a plane
- identify postulates that apply to construction
- identify and measure angles in parallels
- identify angles in triangles
In IPC students will:
- learn about Renewable Energy
- analyzing using Graphing
- changes in the environment have a global effect
In World History students will learn about:
- What is World History?
- Ancient Civilizations
- Origins of the Western Civilization
- The Middle Ages
In Government/Economics students will learn about:
- The American Way of Government
- The Federal Government
- State and Local Government
- Economic Systems
- The American Free Enterprise System
- Government and the Economy
In Pre-Vocational Skills and Career Prep., students will:
- begin working on skills to prepare them for the future
- participate in activities on campus and off campus
- pick up and deliver mail from the Wallis Post Office and Brazos ISD campuses
- participate in community based instruction (CBI). The CBI will include restaurants, stores, and etc….
Grading Procedure:
Students will be graded on the goals and objectives within his/her IEP, in addition to the information that is covered in a specific curriculum area. Students will be graded on work done in the classroom and off campus that addresses the different subject areas, goals and objectives.
Grading:
- Daily work will be 60%
- Quizzes/Tests will be 40%
- Tutoring:
- I will tutor students at 7:30 am on an as need basis, on the following days: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

In Reading students will:
- be exposed to and demonstrate the ability to use a variety of strategies to interpret and recall information from a literary text
- express themselves in a variety of writing and communication skills
- identify new vocabulary words in text using a variety of strategies
- recognize how elements of fiction contribute to plot development
In Mathematics students will:
- use methods to manipulate numbers
- use mathematical processes to solve real world problems
- model relationships between sets of numbers
- find solutions to addition, subtraction multiplication or division problems
In Language Arts students will:
- express themselves in a variety of writing and communication skills
- use elements of the writing process to compose a text.
- edit text for word usage
- edit text for appropriate punctuation
In Science students will:
- identify the changes in matter
- identify relationships between force, motion, and energy
- understand the organization of our solar system
- recognize inherited traits
In Social Studies students will:
- identify important people and events in history
- identify the U.S. Constitution
- recognize the development and impact of reform movements
- understands the importance of citizenship
In Pre-Vocational Skills students will:
- begin working on skills to prepare them for the future
- participate in activities on campus and off campus
