Course Description

  • Emphasis on team sports such as volleyball, softball, basketball, football and soccer. Students develop an understanding of game rules; knowledge and skills necessary to participate; and good sportsmanship habits. Students are administered physical fitness tests. 
  • Emphasis on learning individual sports, including game rules, scoring, care and use of equipment and safety. Students are encouraged to perform at their best individual skill level and to strive for self-improvement using the results of physical fitness tests. 

Grading

  • Grades will be based on students' daily participation in class activities. 
  • Daily Participation Grades = 100%
  • 2 grades per week 

Dressing Out

  • Students are NOT required to dress out, but need to wear clothes they can be physically active in.

Classroom Expectations

  • NO technology devices are allowed to be used unless authorized. NO cell phones, Air Pods, iPads/tablets, video games, etc. will be allowed out during class time.
  • NO eating or drinking will be allowed in the gym. Water bottle/cup with securable top is acceptable. 
  • You MUST wear some sort of tennis shoes to be on the gym floor. NO open toed shoes.  Failure to wear tennis shoes can result in a 0 for that days grade 
  • Good sportsmanship and attitudes are required to keep all activities fun and enjoyable! 

    Classroom Participation

  • ALL students are required to participate in all daily classroom activities. If they fail to do so, they will receive a 0.
  • If the student cannot participate in the activity due to illness or limitations, they are required to have a note. A signed parent note is good for one day; a doctor’s note is required to excuse a student for consecutive days.
  • Each day of the week will be designated to a specific fitness component. 
  • Muscle Monday   - Team Building Tuesday   - Team Sport Wednesday   - Testing Thursday   - Free Friday
