Brazos Cougars

6th Grade Pre-Athletics

Purpose:

The Brazos Middle School Pre-Athletic Class is a Physical Education class which is designed to prepare 6th grade students for the Brazos Middle School Athletic Program in the 7th grade. Students participating in Pre-Athletics should anticipate daily workouts during the class period that are significantly more physical and mentally demanding than what they may experience in a regular P.E. class. Students will focus on athletic conditioning, strength and character building. The Pre-Athletic class will also focus on sports in-season at the time; ex: Football, Basketball and Track. Students will learn skills, drills and rules for those sports as well.

Words of encouragement to Brazos Middle School athletes and parents:

The Pre-Athletics program at BMS is a wonderful opportunity to take Cougar Athletics to the next level of competition. In the beginning of the school year, the intensity of the workouts can be a little intimidating to the new students and their parents but once they condition their minds and bodies to the expectations of the class, great things will begin to happen. Students will carry a sense of accomplishment beyond the athletic class, and they are able to use their newfound confidence in their schoolwork and their everyday lives!

In addition, we will be promoting a high standard of excellence and achievement both in the classroom and on the field of play. We expect our student athletes to conduct themselves as positive role models and be the best behaved students in our school. Most of all we want our 6th grade athletes to have fun and believe in themselves as they gain confidence through sports!

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. We are here to help our students. We are interested in our students and want to provide a good Pre-Athletics program for them. We are not trying to be hard on anyone by requiring certain rules. We feel that these rules and expectations will bring better results in our classes and will promote PERSONAL/SCHOOL PRIDE in our students!
