My name is Brittain Bright and I am so glad your student will be joining me for a full year of exciting learning and loads of fun in 5th grade math! I graduated from Tarleton State University in 2011, with a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary studies. I have been in education since 2012 and have had the pleasure of teaching 2nd, 3rd and 5th grade! I am a proud mama of two sweet boys and love my life as a coach’s wife! Our family is new to the Brazos Cougar community but we are excited to be here! I cannot wait to start our year! Your child will be loved as if they were one of my own everyday they are in my class! Your child will experience a collaborative learning environment that stretches their thinking and provides an opportunity for them to have choice and share their learning with others.Teaching is my passion and I enjoy every minute of it! I am so looking forward to this great year with your child! If there is anything I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to ask!
“Capturing hearts to help make minds grow”
5th Six Weeks:
We will be learning about finding the volume of a rectangular prism and a cube related to area and perimeter. We will also be discussing additive and multiplicative numerical patterns as well as graphing in the first quadrant of the coordinate plane. Our final unit will be representing categorical data with bar graphs and frequency tables. Numerical data, including data sets of measurements in fractions or decimals, is represented with dot plots or stem-and-leaf plots. Students are introduced to scatterplots as a means to represent discrete paired data. Students utilize all of these graphical representations to solve one- and two-step problems.
