Course Objective: Career Prep provides opportunities for students to participate in a learning experience that combines classroom instruction with paid business and industry employment. These experiences support strong partnerships among school, business, and community stakeholders. The goal is to provide students with a variety of skills necessary for an ever-changing workplace.

Grading Policy:

  • Daily grades/Quizzes/Time Sheets 60%

  • Major Grades/Employer Evaluations 40%

Class Materials:

3 ring binder, dividers for binder, notebook paper, pens/pencils

Student Employee Evaluations:

You will be given a Student Employee Evaluation sheet each six (6) weeks to take to your supervisor. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure that your supervisor fills it out and returns it to you in a timely manner; sealed in an envelope (by supervisor) and returned to me. It will be at the discretion of your supervisor as to whether or not they want to review the evaluation with you. It is THEIR choice. These evaluations are very important to your record book and will count as a major test grade.

Student Work Log:

You will complete a work log each day. On the log, you will record your hours/duties that day, along with any new skills you may have learned. At the end of the week you will record how many days you worked along with the hours. Each Monday I will check your work logs for completion. Your weekly log counts for a daily grade.

Record Book/Notebook:

It is YOUR responsibility to keep accurate records of all work. This includes classroom work, student-employee evaluations, & student work logs. I suggest a binder to keep and organize all of this.

Behavior:

As an active participant of the Brazos ISD Career Prep Program, you are required to behave appropriately in and out of the classroom. I will be in contact with your supervisors about your behavior. Remember to always be polite, courteous and respectful. You never know who is watching you.

Absences:

An absence Sheet will be needed each time you are absent from class or work. This form is to go into your record book. If you are going to miss work, it is YOUR responsibility to call and make arrangements with the training station/employer. Having a job is not like attending school; there are people that depend on you at work.
