Reading & Language Arts (RLA): There are many different components such as phonics, language arts, stories, reading strategies, spelling, and writing. We will also start cursive this year. Students will practice print handwriting from the beginning, and then we will move to cursive handwriting! We also use a program called Patterns of Power. This is a language lesson that helps students with many aspects of the English language such as grammar, punctuation, capitalization, parts of speech, and much more. Students will be expected to practice sight words, and we will work on leveled readers to continue making improvements in your child's reading!

Math: In math we will be learning about addition, subtraction, reading time, money, measurement, working word problems, counting to 1200 and so much more! We will eventually move on to simple multiplication and grouping.

Science: We will be using the program STEMscopes to explore all things science.

Social Studies: We will use the program Studies Weekly to learn about the history of our country as well as current events.

Our vision:

BRAZOS ISD inspires each student to become a productive citizen who demonstrates leadership, passion, and self-reliability. We foster a culture of respect, community, perseverance, and achievement.
