Dear Parents,

     We are ready to begin an exciting new semester of Horticulture at BMS.  In this class, students will explore the structure and function of plants.  Students will identify and practice different kinds of floral design and research the variety of careers within the horticulture industry.  Also, we will work to improve the landscape of BMS through the addition and maintenance of various trees, shrubs, and bedding plants.  A portion of this class will take place in the classroom and some time will be spent working outside. 

     Because landscaping is by nature a dirty job, the district has provided a building on campus to serve as our tool storage/classroom.  The students are REQUIRED to have a pair of old shoes or rubber boots to wear just for Horticulture.  They are also asked to supply a pair of garden gloves if they like to wear them.  Students who do not bring gloves will still be required to work outside.  It will be important for students to have their shoes and gloves (optional) in place by next week.   If you have any questions, please contact me at 979- 478-6814. 

     Grades in horticulture are based on participation and on class assignments.  There will be a minimum of two grades taken each week of the grading period. Students will occasionally have quizzes over material studied in class.
