Kindergarten Grading and Conduct Policies
Expectations:
1. Do your best!
2. Complete classwork and homework.
3. Follow classroom rules.

Turtle Rule- Walk. Do not run.

Octopus Rule- Keep your hands and feet to yourself.

Grading Policy:
All grades are of equal value. Kindergarten will not receive a report card the first six weeks. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher by email for the fastest response or contact your child’s teacher to set up a conference. Kinder conference time is from 8:15-9:00 daily. We will also use Remind to communicate with you. If you did not sign up at Meet the Teacher night, please ask for a copy of the instructions to do so as soon as possible to stay connected to class/school events.
Kinder Grading Scale:
100-90 = (E) Excellent
89-80 = (S) Satisfactory
79-70 = (N) Needs Improvement
69-and below = (U) Unsatisfactory
***Two grades will be taken in reading and math per week.***
Science and social studies will have a total of 8 grades per six weeks.
Homework:
Homework will be assigned every day except Friday. Typically, Monday and Wednesday will be Math homework. Tuesday and Thursday will be Reading homework. Instructions for homework are given on the Homework Sheet Inside your child’s folder. Homework will not be graded, but is strongly encouraged. During the 2nd six weeks, we will begin introducing 1 sight word per week. Your child will be tested over these words at the end of each six weeks.
Homework Folder:
Please be sure to check your child’s homework folder every night. Take out papers that are on the LEAVE AT HOME side and return papers that are on the RETURN TO SCHOOL side. Students are responsible for returning homework and library books. Teachers will NOT check student backpacks.
Behavior:
0 Clip Moves= Green
1 Clip Move Yellow=sit out recess 5 minutes
2 Clip Moves Orange= sit out recess 10 minutes
3 Clip Moves Red=teacher write up
3 teacher write ups=office referral
