Important 2nd Grade Information
Expectations

~Complete homework & read every single night.
~Follow classroom rules.
Daily Folder
Your child’s daily folder will come home as needed. Homework, make-up work, and/or notes that need to be sent home will be sent home in the daily folder.

ROAR Folder
ROAR Folders come home on Friday with important information/notes from the office & work your child has completed. Please empty and look through your child’s papers for important information and current grades. These need to be returned every Monday!

Planner
Don’t forget to check your child’s planner daily for homework or behavior notes. Please initial each night.

Homework
Your child will learn the responsibility of writing their homework assignments in their planners. Homework will NOT be taken as a grade but as a review of current and past objectives. This allows parents to see what their child is learning as well as their strengths and weaknesses. Homework is expected to be completed and returned as assigned. If homework is incomplete, students may be required to complete the assignment before participation in recess or stations. There will be weekly spelling quizzes on Fridays.

Birthdays
Students may bring a fun snack to celebrate their birthdays (ex. Cupcakes, cookies, etc.). These snacks must be store bought or totally sealed in individual packages. You may also drop them off at the front office for the teacher to pick up. Birthday snack will be at the end of the day during regular snack time.

PE
Students must wear tennis shoes in PE!!! Sandals, boots, dress shoes, etc. will not be allowed.

Grades
Daily Grades/Quizzes ~ 60% of the total grade.
Tests ~ 40% of the total grade.
Daily grades cannot be changed. If your child makes below a 70 on a test, he/she may retake or correct the test. The highest grade on a retest or corrections is a 70.

Behavior
Students are always given warnings before moving their clips. Behavior is noted in the planner at the end of each day. If a color is changed, a short description of the reason is included.
0 Clip Moves = Green – GREAT DAY!
1 Clip Move = Yellow
3+ Clip Moves = Red – Parents will be contacted
Students can earn rewards for making good choices & good citizenship.
