I will make every effort to continue to support your child's learning in social studies. We have worked very hard to learn about the foundation of our country and we are very close to completing the final era of our story. Students have learned about: Exploration, Colonization, The American Revolution and the US Constitution. We just completed the New Republic, the Age of Jackson, Industrialization and West Ward Expansion. Our final lessons will be about how slavery impacted the US. We will conclude with Reformation, Sectionalism, the Civil War and Reconstruction. We like to explain by saying this is when America began to discuss slavery, argue about slavery, went to war over slavery then rebuilt without slavery. So please help your student to complete the assignments and take advantage of the online opportunities for enriching their minds found in my Google Classroom.

The story of our great state of Texas has so many important and interesting parts that we don't want to leave any them out. We are discussing how Texas survived as an independent republic (its' own nation) and are approaching its annexation to the US and acquiring statehood. The assignments will continue to tell the story and discuss the important people and events that have established our foundation.
