Brazos Elementary School

Our running program will be every Friday during class time.  (Weather conditions are always taken into account for that day.)  Students will jog/walk for 15 minutes around a designated course.  For each lap completed, credit is given to the student.  Motivational prizes are given for every 5 miles  jogged/walked.

 

Goals:

  • Improve cardiovascular fitness and aerobic endurance
  • Establish a foundation for learning good running form
  • Learn proper jogging and muscle stretching techniques
  • Strengthen and increase flexibility of the body (feet, ankles, knees, legs and hips)
  • Knowledge that running increases the ability to perform better in all sports

  • Sleep better
  • Better able to handle physical and emotional challenges
  • Have a stronger and healthier muscles, joints and bones
  • A stronger immune system
  • Enhances the brain's metabolism
  • Improves memory
  • Develops self-esteem and confidence
  • Strengthens the entire cardiovascular system
