I am your Brazos High School counselor, Mrs. Murphy.
BHS Counseling Mission & Philosophy
I will work with faculty, staff, students, parents, and the whole Brazos community to provide services that meet our students' needs. I strive to provide resources to assist parents, students, and faculty in creating a positive environment and helping encourage our students to be successful in all endeavors.
I believe that mental wellness is the key to our success. If you are struggling with your mental health, you will struggle in other aspects of life. I believe that we can be well and find success in life as long as we are willing and able. I believe you should never be afraid to ask for help!
My Role as Your Counselor
- Counsel individuals and small groups of students to meet identified needs.
- Consult with parents, teachers, and other staff regarding concerns about students' needs.
- Prepare students for testing and college/career/military after high school.
- Coordinate people and resources in the community for the benefit of students.
- Participate in planning, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program to serve all students.
- Be familiar with and adhere to the ethical, legal, and professional standards of the counseling profession.
